With big cities come big governments. Listed here are the job websites for the 20 largest cities in the United States according to the 2010 Census.

1. New York, New York

New York City is the largest city in the US. As the home to the United Nations and as a major immigration point to the US, New York is truly an international city. The city government employs more than 300,000 people to serve the city's population of about 8.2 million.

2. Los Angeles, California

Los Angeles is the second largest city in the US and the largest city in California. A CNBC report calls Los Angeles the most diverse city in the US. The city government employs about 32,000 people to serve the city's population of about 3.7 million.

3. Chicago, Illinois

Chicago is the third largest city in the US and the largest city both in Illinois and on any of the Great Lakes. Chicago is known for its political history full of cronyism and back-room deals. The city government is divided into two branches. The mayor heads the executive branch. A city council is comprised of 50 aldermen each representing a ward, or small district, of the city.

4. Houston, Texas

Houston is the fourth largest city in the US and the largest city in Texas. It is a major player in the oil and gas industry and thus has frequent interaction with Middle Eastern and Central American business. Houston has more land area than any of the other 10 largest cities in the United States.

5. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Philadelphia is the fifth largest city in the US and the largest city in Pennsylvania. The Declaration of Independence was signed at Independence Hall in Philadelphia. The city has complete filled Philadelphia County since 1854. In 1952, the city government absorbed all the functions of the county government.

6. Phoenix, Arizona

Phoenix is the sixth largest city in the US and largest city in Arizona. It is also Arizona's capital city, so many state agencies are headquartered in Phoenix. A federal prison is located on the north side of town. 

7. San Antonio, Texas

San Antonio is the seventh largest city in the US and the second largest city in Texas. It is most well-known for the Alamo, the site of the most famous battle in the Texas Revolution. It is 80 miles southwest of Austin, the 14th largest city in the US.

8. San Diego, California

San Diego is the eighth largest city in the US and the second largest city in California. It is known for it's mild year-round climate and world-class zoo. It is also home to North Island Naval Complex that sits on Coronado Island along San Diego's deep natural harbor.

9. Dallas, Texas

Dallas is the ninth largest city in the US and third largest city in Texas behind Houston and San Antonio. Dallas is east of Fort Worth and Arlington in the area called the Metroplex. Around 20 Fortune 500 companies are headquartered in the Metroplex, most of them residing in Dallas.

10. San Jose, California

San Jose is the tenth largest city in the US and third largest city in California behind Los Angeles and San Diego. It is the largest city in the area known as the Silicon Valley, so called for it's high concentration of technology companies.
